What Al-Ittihad actually proposed to Arsenal as they tried to sign Leandro Trossard today
Despite the transfer window slamming shut in England, Arsenal have had to spring into action today to repel a bid for Leandro Trossard.
Trossard was the subject of an offer from Al-Ittihad as the Saudi-based club tried to make a big move on the Gunners before their own deadline passes.
Arsenal are believed to have firmly rejected the offer from Al-Ittihad and are now hoping that is the end of it when it comes to keeping Trossard.

Of course, Arsenal fans would have been far from happy with seeing Trossard sold.
And they’d have been even more unhappy with the deal after the revealed a cheeky detail of the bid from Saudi.

Al-Ittihad actually proposed to take Leandro Trossard on loan
According to the report in The Telegraph, Al-Ittihad didn’t actually come in with big cash offer for Trossard and instead, suggested they take him on an initial loan.
That loan would have included an option to buy for around £30m, meaning Arsenal would have netted a profit of around £9m after spending to sign the Belgian last year.
It’s claimed in that same report that Arsenal have essentially issued a hands off warning over Trossard and they’re now hoping it is the end of the matter.
Trossard has already played a key role this season and after as having ‘unbelievable‘ ability by Mikel Arteta, it’s little wonder the offer was turned down.
Saudi’s looking to unsettle players late in the day
There’s always no harm in trying for any club when it comes to making new signings but there was no way the Saudi Pro League thought Trossard was going to be sold, surely?
Trossard is key for Arsenal and his goals and assists have been vital since he arrived.
If Arsenal had somehow agreed to this, then it’s safe to say the move would have gone down like a lead balloon in north London.
