Jamie Carragher names the Liverpool player who was ‘outstanding’ in the win over Chelsea
Liverpool battled their way past Chelsea today as they got their tough run of fixtures off to a fine start by seeing off the Blues.
Arne Slot was under the microscope as people look to see if his Liverpool side can navigate a tricky run of fixtures and still be in the title picture next month.
Goals from Mo Salah and Curtis Jones were enough for Liverpool to see off Enzo Maresca’s outfit and in the end, Slot will have been delighted with his players.
Of course, the performance of Jones was a standout and after Leon Osman sung Jones’ praises, Jamie Carragher has also lauded the Liverpool star.

Jamie Carragher says Curtis Jones may have changed Liverpool’s transfer plans
Speaking on about the performance of Jones, Carragher has suggested he was so good that it might even impact Liverpool’s plans in the market.
“Curtis Jones was brilliant, he was outstanding. He’s still at that stage where he doesn’t know for certain if he is first choice, when you have got Gravenberch and Mac Allister,” Carragher said.
“But what a performance that was, when you think of the quality on the pitch and the money that has been spent. For a local lad to be player of the match.
“I wonder if Arne Slot is going to go back in for Zubimendi in January, but when you see how he played today you think ‘no’. He has to now do it on a consistent basis.”
Jones has to keep fit and consistent
Carragher mentions it here but the key for Curtis Jones is now staying fully fit and then when he does play, keeping this level of performance up.
The Reds need all their players to produce if they are to sustain pressure at the top of the table and on the evidence of today, Jones can be a big player.
Midfield is often so key to winning any game of football and Slot took a bit of a risk in throwing Jones in today.
If he can maintain form, and produce as he has at Anfield today, then Liverpool will feel they’ve finally got to a point where Jones is really delivering for them.
