‘What a guy’… Reiss Nelson and Ian Wright blown away by 25-year-old Arsenal player

Aaron Ramsdale made his Champions League debut for Arsenal against PSV Eindhoven last night, and Reiss Nelson and Ian Wright have shown him some love on Instagram.

Reiss Nelson and Ian Wright react to Aaron Ramsdale’s Champions League debut for Arsenal

Aaron Ramsdale has had a really difficult season at Arsenal.

The 25-year-old started the campaign as the undisputed number-one at the club, but after just over a month into the season, he was dropped by Mikel Arteta.

David Raya has taken his place and started most of Arsenal’s games since. He is the number one now, and Ramsdale has had to watch him in action from the bench more often than not.

In Arsenal’s final Champions League group stage game yesterday, Arteta decided to give Ramsdale his debut, and the Englishman had a good game.

He couldn’t do much with the goal PSV scored, but he stepped up every other time he was called upon. It was great to see him with a smile on his face.

After the game, Ramsdale took to to celebrate his Champions League debut. Ian Wright replied with a bunch of heart emojis.

Reiss Nelson commented: “What a guy!”

Aaron Ramsdale looked good last night

Getting dropped definitely affected Aaron Ramsdale – you could see just how much he lacked confidence in the game against Brentford a few weeks ago. He looked like a bag of nerves in that fixture.

However, last night, Ramsdale looked calm and composed for the most part.

The Englishman has always been a brilliant goalkeeper. Many Arsenal fans still believe he’s head and shoulders above David Raya, but Mikel Arteta clearly doesn’t think that’s the case.

However, Ramsdale did no harm to his reputation last night, and he showed he is more than good enough to step up when called upon.
