‘What a baby’: Spurs star’s brother jokes on Twitter after Euro 2020 incident in Wales win

The brother of Joe Rodon has joked on Twitter that he cannot believe that the Spurs star went down holding his head after a clash as Wales beat Turkey at Euro 2020.

Rob Page’s men have put one foot in the knockout stages of the competition. After drawing with Switzerland in the opening game, they beat Turkey 2-0 in Baku on Wednesday.

They were 1-0 up from late on in the first-half. But with their second only coming deep into stoppage-time at the end, there were some nervy moments.

Gareth Bale missed a penalty. Danny Ward needed to make a brilliant stop. And at one stage, tensions boiled over.

The referee gave a free-kick against Turkey captain Burak Yilmaz after Rodon went down inside the Welsh penalty area.

The Wales players did not take too kindly to the way Yilmaz approached Rodon while he was on the ground. It was clear that the striker was not convinced he had done anything wrong initially.

And in fairness, replays suggested that Rodon had been a bit clever in winning the free-kick.

There was certainly no contact with his head. Nevertheless, the Tottenham star went down with his hands on his face.

And while anyone supporting Wales would have likely been more than happy to ignore Rodon going down a little easy – in fairness, you will see a lot worse as other sides look to see games out this summer – his brother felt the need to shine a light on the incident.

And he was clearly not best pleased with the Tottenham man…

Rodon can be forgiven for exaggerating contact after another colossal Euro 2020 display for Wales

Wales are not yet mathematically through. However, there looks to be virtually no chance of the country not featuring in the last 16.

And Rodon has been outstanding in their opening two games. He has produced two colossal displays, particularly on Wednesday.

So perhaps a blind eye can be turned to the moment he decided to be a little cute.

In fairness, there was no chance he was taking his head away if Yilmaz did decide to hit an overhead kick in those moments.
