‘We’ve made a mistake’: Some Rangers fans react to news ahead of Europa League clash tonight
Glasgow Rangers fans have been left reeling by news that Ibrox defender Filip Helander will be out until December.
The Gers powerhouse suffered a knee injury on Saturday, for which he has undergone surgery.
Helander had to be taken off on a stretcher in the Scottish Premiership victory at St Johnstone.

“Rangers can confirm that defender Fil Helander will be missing until December after knee surgery,” the club wrote on .
“We wish him well in his recovery.”
As sad as it is to see Helander sidelined for several months, there’s another big problem.
Rangers named just three recognised centre-backs in their Europa League squad for the competition’s group states.
Helander, Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun made the cut, while Ibrox winter signing Jack Simpson did not.
This means Goldson and Balogun are now the only recognised senior centre-backs that can play in the Europa League.
And some Rangers fans feel the decision not to include Simpson in the EL squad has come back to haunt them:
I think we've made a mistake in leaving out jack Simpson from the European squad

Simpson isn't in the UEL draw

Didn't really agree with leaving Simpson out in the first place when we could've sacrificed McLaughlin or Bacuna. Risky and it's come back to bite us.

It’s highly unlikely. Only really done for goalkeepers as UEFA understandably feel you should have adequate cover for one player in a 26 man squad.

don't think it's possible till after group stages

Rangers host Lyon at Ibrox tonight.
