Weston McKennie reportedly open to transfer amid Everton and Newcastle interest
Weston McKennie is reportedly open to a move away from Schalke this summer, amid reported interest from Everton and Newcastle United.
this week that Everton and Newcastle are both keen on a deal for the USA international, with a fee of £22.5 million mentioned.
The 21-year-old, who can play in a variety of positions, has been one of the only players not to struggle for Schalke in their recent run of horrific form.
In May, , the central midfielder made it clear his ‘next goal’ was to play Premier League football, calling it a ‘dream’.

Now, that is the case. They report that McKennie is open to leaving the German side this summer after their recent dip in form. He is said to no longer be 100 percent happy in Gelsenkirchen and would move on if the right deal came up.
Hertha Berlin have been credited with an interest but given McKennie’s previous comments, Everton and Newcastle would both be confident of securing his services.
Both clubs could use midfield reinforcements whilst McKennie’s ability to slot in out wide or at full-back would also make him a useful get for either Everton or Newcastle.
Either way, it seems that Everton and Newcastle could be onto a winner if they do pursue this particular transfer avenue.
