West Ham’s Reece Oxford completes fall from grace with humiliating own goal
Once tipped as the next big thing for West Ham, 19-year-old Reece Oxford has sunk to an all new low as he scored an embarrassing own goal for the club’s under 23s against Derby County.
The first half header came under no pressure from attacking Rams and Oxford sent the ball flying beyond a stunned Joseph Anang in between the sticks for the Hammers.
Coming just a year after playing in the Premier League for the Irons and in Bundesliga for Borussia Monchengladbach, Oxford has never looked further away from first team football.

Manuel Pellegrini has not turned to Oxford at all this season, even though he did field a number of youngsters against Mansfield in the Carabao Cup.
Once the object of affection for some of Europe’s biggest clubs, Oxford is now left to settle for under 23 football and is failing to stand out amongst the crowd even at that level.
Pellegrini will be aware of the undoubted potential that Oxford possesses, but no coach has found the magic formula to get the best out of him and turn him into a player of real quality.
