West Ham’s Lucas Perez looks expensive even at £4 million

West Ham United forward Lucas Perez frustrated again last night.

The Spaniard was brought on for the second half against Brighton by Manuel Pellegrini, replacing the unfit Andy Carroll.

It was a big chance for the summer signing from Arsenal to stake his claim following a poor start to the season.

But Perez once again fell short of expectation. The forward struggled to get the basics right, and offered little in the way of an attacking threat.

He certainly came in for a plethora of criticism on social media after the game.

Perez actually looks expensive at £4 million

A large proportion of West Ham supporters rejoiced when their club landed the forward from Arsenal last summer.

But Perez has been so poor he’s actually managed to make his price tag look hefty.

Across his 10 appearances in the Premier League, he’s managed an average rating of just 6.31 .

His pass completion stands at a disappointing 69%.

His brace against Cardiff City was perhaps his best showing for the club, but he’s otherwise simply looked too inconsistent for the Hammers.

With the January transfer window now here, it would be unsurprising to see Perez leave on loan somewhere to help him rediscover his mojo.
