West Ham ‘watching’ January situation of Tottenham player – report

West Ham United have joined the clubs monitoring the situation surrounding Dele Alli at Tottenham Hotspur with his representatives beginning to work on potential options for the 25-year-old in the January transfer window, .

Dele is looking set to be on the move next month. He appeared to be one of the players who would potentially benefit from the departure of Nuno Espírito Santo. However, the arrival of Antonio Conte has done little for him, despite the Italian describing the midfielder as a player .

It was recently reported that Daniel Levy is now open to letting Dele leave. And Newcastle United were named as one of his reported admirers.

But perhaps the Magpies may not be the only Premier League side to offer an escape route. that West Ham are ‘watching the situation’. It is noted that the Hammers’ pursuit will largely depend on whether they get Jesse Lingard.

The report does suggest that Levy would rather Dele moves abroad. And clearly, letting him head to the London Stadium would be a huge gamble.

Spurs would surely prefer to sell Dele permanently. But a loan move seems more likely in January.

There are still upsides to a loan deal. could be moved off the bill for a few months. And that may free up some space for an addition of their own.

And of course, a good loan spell could make a huge difference to his asking price ahead of the summer.

But Tottenham would arguably find themselves in a no-win situation should he join the Hammers on loan.

Either he struggles and his value drops further, or he gets his career back on track and helps one of Tottenham’s rivals for those European spots.
