West Ham United to rival Leeds and three Serie A sides for £30.1m summer transfer of Nahitan Nandez
According to , West Ham United will have to rival Leeds, Inter Milan, Roma and Napoli for the transfer of Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez this summer.
The Uruguayan has rediscovered the form that alluded him earlier in the season to help Leonardo Semplici’s side stave off the threat of relegation from the Serie A and earn admirers higher up the table.
It is now considered a challenge for Gli Isolani to keep Nandez at the Sardegna Arena for another year, knowing how close they came to playing second-tier football and the likelihood of that forcing Nandez to reconsider his future.
Nandez is under contract with Cagliari until 2024 and remained a vital aspect of Semplici’s plans throughout the term, having nurtured him back to form with an arm around the shoulder and a slew of support.

TBR’s view:
It is clear that any side wishing to sign Nandez at the end of the season faces a strong challenge in the rival interest and fee required, but would be set to acquire a midfield menace capable of playing and in wide positions.
The Uruguayan is also a player who gives his all on the field and those levels helped ensure Cagliari remained a Serie A side, ultimately strengthening their position in demanding the full value of his release clause.
Nandez’s all-energy approach has been a long-standing trait of his game, with the former Boca Juniors star’s agent, Pablo Bentancur, telling in 2019: “I had no doubts about his adaptation to Italian football, it’s perfect for his characteristics. Nandez is a great player. The fans always like him because he leaves every last drop of sweat on the pitch.”
Whether West Ham or Leeds are willing to pay circa £30m to edge interest from three of Italy’s biggest clubs remains to be seen, but doing so certainly would have its upsides for David Moyes or Marcelo Bielsa in the Premier League next term.
