West Ham United target substituted as his current club suffered thumping 6-1 loss last night

West Ham United target Filip Kostic has suffered a defeat with Eintracht Frankfurt against Bayern Munich.

Frankfurt kicked off the new Bundesliga season at home to the reigning champions and got their campaign off to the worst possible start.

Sadio Mane scored on his first Bundesliga outing after moving the Munich from Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

It was 5-0 by half-time and Kostic was substituted – having been booked – with a little over 15 minutes remaining of the match.

Kostic hooked as Frankfurt lose 6-1 to Bayern

Any team in Germany is liable to get beaten by Bayern, but Frankfurt are the Europa League holders and will play in the Champions League.

They should be able to hold a better account of themselves than this, especially on the opening night of the season.

Their enthusiasm should have been high and Bayern may have taken a little bit of time to get going with their new players.

Games like this one may make Kostic reconsider the decision he has made so far this summer to stay with the Bundesliga outfit.

West Ham will take on the reigning English champions Manchester City tomorrow, and they earned a 2-2 draw in last season’s corresponding fixture.

It could be about to get worse for Kostic and Frankfurt as next up is the Super Cup clash with Champions League holders Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Another thrashing there and West Ham would likely get a boost to their chance of convincing Kostic his future is best served in east London.
