West Ham United player David Moyes really wanted to keep this summer needs January loan move, he’s hardly played – opinion

West Ham United manager David Moyes has had plenty of selection headaches this season.

The Hammers invested heavily in the squad this summer off the back of qualifying for Europe once again.

Moyes now has a number of options to choose from across the pitch, including international stars such as Lucas Paqueta and Thilo Kehrer.

Although this is positive for the overall standard of the squad, it may limit opportunities for West Ham’s young players.

Oliver Scarles made headlines when he was named on the bench against Anderlecht despite being just 16 years old.

However, chances have been few and far between for West Ham’s other young players.

Moyes gave Coventry a chance against Viborg in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

He was even spoken to by the opposition manager, but things haven’t gone to plan since that tie.

Coventry needs January loan move

Aside from the chance he was given against Viborg, Coventry has played just two minutes of competitive football.

He was brought on as a late substitute against Slikeborg and in the last minute on the opening day of the Premier League against Man City.

The signing of another young midfielder, Flynn Downes, has pushed Coventry another spot down the pecking order.

West Ham’s mixed form in the league has also forced Moyes to go with his strongest side more often than he might like.

The Hammers are playing twice every week right now, which should be giving Coventry more chances.

David Moyes even said to Coventry last summer, .

However, that’s exactly what he’s been doing, and it now looks like Coventry needs a January loan move for the good of his own career.
