West Ham hopeful of signing the ‘best 1-on-1 defender for a full-back in the world’ – Sky journalist

Regarding Man United finding a replacement for Wan-Bissaka, “there is little expectation of that happening at this late stage”.

However, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has now provided an update on West Ham’s pursuit of Wan-Bissaka.

He also spoke of the Hammers’ interest in Southampton’s Jan Bednarek, and of the Red Devils’ pursuit of Sergino Dest.

“West Ham have entered talks with Southampton over Jan Bednarek,” Sheth told .

“And one source has also said Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

“West Ham have encouragement that Man Utd would do business for him.

“As I mentioned before, it is possible that United would go for Barcelona’s Sergino Dest before the window shuts.”

Were Man United to land a replacement, then they could well sanction a move for Wan-Bissaka.

And West Ham could potentially get their man.

At present, the Hammers have Vladimir Coufal, Ben Johnson and Harrison Ashby at right-back.

Meanwhile, new signing Thilo Kehrer can also play there if needed.

Nonetheless, it looks as though David Moyes may be eyeing an upgrade there.

Wan-Bissaka is a top talent who Jamie Carragher “the best one-on-one defender for a full-back in the world” a few years ago.

Erik ten Hag has only given him four minutes of game time this season, suggesting he’s surplus to requirements.

Can West Ham get a deal over the line and help get him firing on all cylinders again?
