West Ham target Pereira releases statement claiming he wants to leave

West Ham United target Matheus Pereira has released a statement over his future.

What’s the story?

In a post on his , the West Brom ace claimed that he wants to leave the Baggies this summer, but, in the ‘fair’ and ‘correct’ manner.

However, the Brazilian has hit out Valerien Ismael, who said he wasn’t ‘committed’.

West Brom will once again be playing Championship football after enduring relegation last season.

However, Pereira was a standout man for the Midlanders, scoring 12 times and registering six assists. As a result, it has sparked interest from Premier League clubs.

The Irons are one of the teams interested in the former Sporting CP man, who could be available for just £15m this summer.

When talking about the situation, Pereira said: “I remained silent and wasn’t going to address anything until after the transfer window out of respect for the fans and all my teammates. However after being called “not committed” with the club I felt extremely disrespected as a professional.”

“I want to leave, I want to seek new experiences but want to do this in a fair correct manner.”

Pereira statement a refreshing change as West Ham chase transfer

The statement from Pereira is an extremely refreshing change as West Ham chase a transfer.

Very rarely does a player clear the air over his future in such a public manner, and against his own manager, no less.

However, the 25-year-old clearly feels he has been unjustly attacked by Ismael.

The move does benefit the Hammers in a huge way as they look to make reinforcements.

Such a public spat does heighten the expectation Pereira will leave.

Having only arrived this summer, it’s extremely unlikely the 45-year-old will be the one to depart. Chuck in West Brom’s relegation last season and, Pereira becomes a very realistic acquisition this summer.
