West Ham supporters not impressed by Andriy Yarmolenko performance

Attacker Andriy Yarmolenko was substituted off at half-time in West Ham’s defeat to Newcastle United – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter fumed at his performance.

The winger lasted just 45 minutes before he was taken off by manager Manuel Pellegrini, but he was one of several individuals that were poor in Saturday’s loss.

West Ham were beaten 3-2 at the London Stadium by Newcastle and were outplayed for large parts of the contest.

Visitors Newcastle scored through defenders Ciaran Clark and Federico Fernandez in the first-half to take a deserved lead, while Jonjo Shelvey’s free-kick early in the second-half gave them a three-goal advantage.

The Hammers did respond through Fabian Balbuena in the 73rd minute and Robert Snodgrass also netted in the 90th minute, but the deserving team claimed the three points.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media were heavily frustrated with Yarmolenko’s contribution in the opening 45 minutes before he left the field.

The 30-year-old wide man really struggled to get into the contest and was extremely effective when drifting in-field.

There was a complete lack of movement in the final third right up until a late revival and it’s worrying times at the London Stadium.

Yarmolenko is one of the few West Ham players that has been brighter this season with three league goals, but was invisible against Newcastle and can go through matches making very little impact.
