West Ham staff aren’t agreed on £25m player, there could still be a big u-turn

With the January transfer window coming to a close, it’s clear that West Ham are very keen to add a winger before Wednesday’s deadline.

David Moyes’ side has an incredibly strong eleven when are all fit, however, there’s still doubts about the quality of the extended squad.

The likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus could start for any Premier League side.

However, there’s a significant drop off to the likes of Pablo Fornals, Danny Ings and Said Benrahama.

That being said, it seems the latter of those names could still leave the club before January ends with two Premier League sides interested.

But it’s now clear that West Ham will crack on in their January pursuit of a winger regardless, and it’s been reported that a loan deal has been agreed for former Celtic player Jota.

The forward is unhappy at Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad and isn’t registered in the squad – making a January move a sensible one.

And although many believe a move to London to be done and dusted, journalist has now claimed otherwise.

West Ham staff aren’t completely agreed on January loan for Portuguese winger Jota

According to Jacobs, who shared his update on X, both Mark Noble and Tim Steidten would still much rather sign FC Nordsjaelland winger Ibrahim Osman.

A deal was thought to be too expensive yesterday, however, it may not be over just yet.

Jacobs said: “Jota could be an alternative to Ibrahim Osman for West Ham, although Mark Noble and Tim Steidten still ideally want the latter. Further clarity on that deal [is] expected today.

“Tax situation is a complicating factor with Jota even with a loan so it’s not an easy transfer to pull off. Saudi sources insist Jota’s wage is not the widely-reported £190k-per-week and is actually half that number. Higher estimation would make him West Ham’s best-paid player.

“Al-Ittihad want 100% wage coverage. They agreed this with Al-Ettifaq earlier in the month, but Jota didn’t want the move.”

Therefore, it still seems as if West Ham’s January search for a winger is up in the air.

Perhaps David Moyes would be happy with either target, but it seems there will still be some deliberation needed.

All that being said, it seems as if West Ham are still eyeing a different target entirely
