West Ham should monitor Newcastle defender Federico Fernandez
West Ham United may soon have to think about life after Winston Reid.
The defender has not featured for the first-team in a competitive game since March 2018, but is supposedly finally nearing a return.
the 31-year-old is set to feature for the U23s, with their next outing coming next Tuesday against Cheltenham Town in the Leasing Trophy.

Reid, who earns £70,000-a-week at the London Stadium (), is into the final year of his contract and stands to become a free agent next summer if not offered an extension by the club.
One would assume he will have to stay fit and prove himself if he is to bag fresh terms, but it could be that the club need to think about alternatives.
One man they should perhaps consider, is Newcastle United star Federico Fernandez.
TBR’s view
Fernandez has made just four appearances this season, which has equated to just 113 minutes of actual pitch time.

The Argentine made a brilliant start to life at St. James’ Park following his £6 million move (), but injury problems saw him unable to return to the starting XI ahead of the likes of Fabian Schar, Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune.
If West Ham see fit to let Reid go, Fernandez in on a free could be a shrewd move.
The 30-year-old remains an able and experienced Premier League defender and could come in as a squad player for Pellegrini.
