West Ham should consider ambitious Juan Mata raid

Juan Mata faces an uncertain future at Manchester United right now, which is why West Ham should be lurking in the shadows prepared to make an ambitious swoop for him.

, the 30-year-old’s current deal at Old Trafford will expire at the end of the season and he’s yet to receive an offer to extend his stay.

It is understood the £140,000-a-week ace would prefer to remain with Manchester United, but if he does leave them would target a move to another Premier League club.

West Ham have made some eye-catching signings in recent years to try improve their squad, but Mata would top them all if he became a realistic target.

He is a left-footed genius that ripped up the English top flight during his time with Chelsea and has gone on to prove himself at Manchester United too.

The Spaniard has scored two stunning free-kicks recently in games against Newcastle United and Juventus to show off his incredible technique, while he should still have many more years at the top.

West Ham have serious ambitions about becoming European regulars under Manuel Pellegrini and attacking midfielder Mata is the type of player that could help them achieve that on the pitch.

His footballing brain and ability would bring an extra dimension to the Hammers side going forward, while the thought of him linking up with Marko Arnautovic is frightening.

West Ham could get Mata on the cheap if they pursued his signature in January and his lofty wages would certainly be worth coughing up for.
