West Ham should block Lucas Perez loan approach due to striker shortage
West Ham have reportedly been approached about their centre-forward Lucas Perez.
, German club FC Schalke have made an offer to take the 30-year-old on loan for the rest of the season with a view to buying next summer.
The left-footed striker hasn’t quite made the desired impact at the London Stadium this campaign, despite scoring five goals in 14 appearances across all competitions.
He is an extremely decent finisher and has looked bright in the cup competitions, but it’s not quite worked out for the £80,000-a-week ace () in the Premier League.
Many may feel West Ham should offload Perez on a loan or temporary basis, but they may be best putting off any decision to the summer.

West Ham already have a shortage of strikers at the London Stadium and offloading Perez when the transfer window shuts on Thursday could be suicidal.
Marko Arnautovic is set for a scan on a foot injury (), while Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll are not first-rate attackers that can save the season.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side can still claw back the gap to the Europe places in time if they sort their act together and it may be wise of the manager to keep Perez around for another senior option.
