West Ham set £18m asking price for ‘unbelievable’ player as loan offer is rejected

West Ham have reportedly rejected a loan offer from Olympique Marseille for Said Benrahma, with the Irons open to a permanent sale.

The Algerian international has been linked with a move away from the east London side this January, with West Ham willing to cash in on Benrahma in order to finance signings this window.

With Benrahma currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, progress on any deal could take some time, yet that hasn’t stopped West Ham from receiving an offer for the winger.

, Marseille have made a loan offer with an option to buy for Benrahma, though West Ham have rejected this proposal from the Ligue 1 side.

As per the report, the Irons will be open to selling Benrahma this January if an offer worth €23m (£18m) was made, though it is unlikely Marseille would match this demand.

, it’s clear that West Ham value Benrahma slightly higher than what the winger’s market value actually is, and this could cause some problems.

Benrahma has shown during his time with West Ham that the former Brentford man is good enough to play at the highest-level possible in European football.

However, with the forward’s numbers rather disappointing this season and Benrahma now 28-years-old, West Ham are kidding themselves if they think they can receive as much as £18m for the Algerian.

As a result, the Irons should be looking to cut their losses with Benrahma, with Marseille’s offer likely the best West Ham will get this January if no other club comes forward with a bid for the winger.
