West Ham round-up: Three clubs held talks over striker; goalkeeper wanted; Bilic reacts to Watford draw
The claim that co-chairman David Sullivan has authorised the sale of striker Andy Carroll, with three Chinese clubs, Tianjin Quanjian, Hebei China Fortune and Shandong Luneng Taishan, having held talks ahead of the Chinese Super League’s transfer window shutting on Tuesday.
The former Newcastle striker has been a key player when fit for the Hammers, but as throughout his career, has struggled with injuries once again this season and is currently sidelined by another injury. Whilst a deal is still possible, club bosses believe that they may have left it too late to cut their wage bill by selling the 28-year-old.
The also claim that West Ham are already looking for summer targets, with Gent goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic on their shopping list. Having knocked Tottenham out of the Europa League this week, the 6ft7in shotstopper only joined the club in January from Hadjuk Split after controversially not being awarded a work permit to join Aston Villa last season.
The 26-year-old could now be eligible, with the Belgian club believed to be demanding a fee of at least £10 million with Everton and Southampton also monitoring the situation of the goalkeeper with an eye on a summer move.
Slaven Bilic was busy yesterday at Vicarage Road, as his side secured a 1-1 draw against Watford before Michail Antonio was sent off late on, as Bilic told the :
“Considering the way we played I think we deserved more than a point from the way that we played through the whole game. I told the guys at the end that okay it was a good point and a great performance in the second half but we cannot start like that, especially away and it is hard to turn the game around… The red card – OK… Although Michail Antonio’s reaction is an instinctive one he din’t stop them gaining anything. He acted by the book and the book says it is a red card.”

Antonio will now be suspended for the visit of Chelsea to the London Stadium next weekend, but the Irons will have been boosted by gaining a valuable away point this weekend.
