West Ham round-up: Noble hits out at fans; Arsenal flop targeted; move for England star possible

Captain Mark Noble may usually be a popular figure amongst the club’s fans, but some have criticised him of late and called for him to be dropped by boss Slaven Bilic, and he reacted by telling :

“If I am really honest, a lot of people who now go to football don’t really understand the game. Football is a game of moments now and if someone does four step-overs, they’ve had an incredible game. That’s not something I do. It’s just football, you’ve got to live with it. The things Arsene Wenger has done for Arsenal and some people want him out. Players like Wayne Rooney, some people want him out of the Manchester United team. That’s why we are captains of our clubs, because we can handle that pressure.”

The central midfielder was criticised for his role in the opening goal for Chelsea last week and did little to protect his defence on the south coast against Bournemouth on Saturday, with many fans calling for changes in defence and in midfield to add more steel, with Noble far from his best.

The  say that the club could be looking elsewhere in London to bring in a striker in the summer, with Arsenal’s new signing Lucas Perez likely to leave the club in the summer. They say that the Spaniard is a target for the Irons as they look to bring pace in up-front.

However, the 28-year-old would not come cheaply and the club would be forced to fork out a large fee, judging by the Gunners’ rejection of a £26 million bid from the Chinese Super League during the January transfer window.

Another Arsenal man who could join the club is Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as  have slashed the odds on West Ham being the midfielder’s next club, with odds now at 6/1, making the Hammers second favourites behind Liverpool.

The ex-Southampton man is believed to have grown frustrated in north London as he is played out of position in a central role with growing discontent amongst the Arsenal squad this season after being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.
