West Ham round-up: Inter winger wants move; Carroll set for return; Snodgrass plays down Payet replacement tag
Inter Milan winger Jonathan Biabiany has hinted that he could make a summer move to the London Stadium as his agent told :
“Yes, I can confirm that. Conte wanted him and personally talked to Jonathan to persuade him to move to Chelsea. Chelsea’s offer, however, was late. They called us on Sunday night and the transfer window was closing two days later. There was no time to finalize a deal… [Would Biabiany like to play for West Ham?] Yes, he likes the Hammers”
The 28-year-old right winger has only made three appearances for the San Siro club this season, all coming in the Europa League, and could be available cheaply in the summer.
In more good news for the club, Slaven Bilic believes that Andy Carroll should be fit enough to figure in Monday’s derby against Chelsea as Bilic told the media, as quoted by :
“The guys from the medical department have told me he’s going to start training Tuesday or Wednesday. He ran on Friday and Saturday morning with no negative reaction, so hopefully. Me and my medical department are fighting. They say Wednesday, I say Tuesday. Then hopefully four or five days of training, that is always enough for Andy to shine in the next game. So hopefully he is going to be able to play against Chelsea.”
The striker has been out since scoring in the win over Southampton, despite hopes that he would return for this weekend’s game against Watford.
One of the stand out performers in both of those games was new signing Robert Snodgrass, who has played down his tag as a replacement for Dimitri Payet as he told the :
“I’m totally different to Payet because he was playing like an individual towards the end of his time at West Ham and the lads weren’t too happy about that. The rest of the team were coming in every day and working as hard as they possibly could and wanted someone alongside them who was giving everything. That is exactly the kind of player I am.”
The Scottish international is adapting to life in London quickly and is becoming a key figure for the Irons.
