West Ham Round-Up: Cresswell faces suspension; Ba talks were held; striker showdown talks held

As if last night’s devastating thrashing at the hands of Manchester City was not enough,  claim that left-back Aaron Cresswell could be set to serve a four match suspension if the FA do retrospectively take action over an incident in which he appeared to punch Raheem Sterling.

It’s believed that the FA are reviewing the footage of the incident to see if any action should be taken and whether he could be punished after a woeful display in which his giving away of possession lead to the first City goal.

Slaven Bilic has revealed that he held talks with striker Demba Ba over a potential return from China to the Premier League before he opted to return to former club Besiktas. Bilic :

“I spoke with him on the phone a couple of weeks ago. The problem is he was very badly injured and he told me that he would be fit in March — that’s too late for us. He is a player who proved himself in the Premier League, that I have managed, and we had a wonderful year together at Besiktas. He’s a top player and I want him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Despite his experience, it’s clear that the Hammers need goals now and clearly could not have been prepared to wait until March for Ba to recover to make his second debut for the club.

An alternative source of goals could be Argentinean striker Jonathan Calleri as the  claim that he will remain at the club to prove himself and fight for his place despite a disappointing start to life in London since joining on loan in the summer.

Calleri has shown some signs of improvement with a goal against Middlesbrough, but was strongly linked with an early exit during the transfer window.
