West Ham round-up: Batshuayi move ‘off’, Oxford departs, Perez latest

Batshuayi move ‘off’

West Ham’s proposed move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is apparently off after the club baulked at the player’s wage demands.

A deal to take the Belgian to the London Stadium appears dead in the water now, after the Hammers realised a loan move until the end of the season would cost them a staggering £3.4 million in wages (£170,000-a-week), .

Chelsea apparently wanted a £2 million loan fee on top of that.

Batshuayi is back with the Blues after a poor half-season stint with Valencia.

Oxford departs

Forgotten man Reece Oxford has left the Hammers to join Augsburg on loan until the end of the season ().

The 20-year-old is heading back to the Bundesliga, having made eight appearances for Borussia Monchengladbach last term.

Oxford made his West Ham debut at the tender age of 16 against FC Lusitans in the Europa League.

Since then though, he has not developed in the way fans had hoped.

The defender has made just 17 senior appearances for the club across all competitions.

Perez latest

Lucas Perez may not leave West Ham today, with Schalke 04 having turned their attentions to Tottenham Hotspur flop Vincent Janssen ().

Perez had been linked with an 11th hour move to the Bundesliga outfit, with the Hammers open to letting him leave following a disappointing stint with the club.
