West Ham round-up: Arsenal winger move possible; more interest in striker expected; Fonte injury concern

The  claim that West Ham United are one of several clubs believed to be monitoring the situation of Arsenal winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after rumours emerged that he could demand an exit from the Emirates having grown unhappy with the lack of consistency in his position.

Obtaining the 23-year-old’s signature will be much easier said than done, though, with Manchester City, Liverpool, and Southampton all also believed to be following the England international. However, his wages of £65,000 could be achievable for the Hammers.

Such a move could be funded by the sale of Andy Carroll, as the  say that the former Liverpool and Newcastle striker is still admired by a number of Chinese clubs who the Irons expect to make more bids in the summer transfer window.

Carroll is not understood to be desperate make the move to China, despite the huge financial offers on the table, but the club could push him to leave if a lucrative offer is made which could fund their transfer activity in the summer.

Carroll is expected to be fit enough to feature for the trip to Bournemouth this weekend despite taking a nasty knock to the head against Chelsea on Monday, but Slaven Bilic has revealed that there are doubts over the fitness of central defender Jose Fonte as he told the press, as quoted by the :

“Fonte felt something and is a bit of a doubt but we are optimistic he will be fit.”

The ex-Southampton man has played a key role since joining in January, but could now miss a return to the south coast in what could pose a real problem after Winston Reid also limped off on Monday night with Angelo Ogbonna already out for the season.
