West Ham receive boost in reported pursuit, out-of-favour under Mourinho

that West Ham United have received a boost in their pursuit of Roma goalkeeper Robin Olsen. The ex-Everton loanee is out of favour at Roma under Jose Mourinho. A move to French champions Lille was expected, but West Ham could now get the Swede.

Olsen, 31, was on loan at Everton last season. It comes after just 35 appearances in two seasons for Roma, following his move to the club in the summer of 2018. It saw him move to Merseyside under Carlo Ancelotti but as Jordan Pickford’s cover, he was only afforded 11 appearances.

At West Ham, that could be a different story – with the Hammers participating in the Europa League. It means if the 49-time Sweden international was to join, there would be plenty of opportunities to show why he can start over Lukasz Fabianski. West Ham have received a boost.

What has happened to Lille’s pursuit of West Ham target Olsen?

The report states that it is ‘very likely’ that Olsen’s move to Lille will now not materialise. The story from Il Romanista also states that a move to West Ham is now back on the table. by the same outlet that Roma want just £4.3million for Olsen.

The Hammers do need a goalkeeper. Fabianski is now 36 and while Darren Randolph is a good stopper, he is probably not the level West Ham require if they are to embark on another top-six pursuit – and to go far in the Europa League. Olsen, at that price, makes sense.
