West Ham: Payet sensationally hints at exit; Chelsea defender linked; Oxford potential Germany move
After a disappointing start to the season has left the Hammers stranded in 16th place and just one point clear of the relegation zone with 11 games played, star man Dimitri Payet has hinted that he could leave the club as he told French outlet :
“We’ve had a very poor start. Leave in January? I’m asking other questions right now but I’ve closed the door to nothing… Until now, I always chose my clubs depending on the sports project. I work like that. Until I can play at a level like this, it will be the case. Go to PSG or Marseille? For now, they have not come to me, so I do not ask myself.”
As the club’s talisman and most important player, with five assists and two goals in all competitions so far this campaign, it would be a massive blow to lose the 29-year-old playmaker. Having put pen to paper on a five year deal in February, the club would not let him leave cheaply if at all, but if Payet did force a move then an exit may not be off the cards.
One man who seems likely to be joining the Irons in January, rather than leaving, is Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic as Slaven Bilic sees the 32-year-old as the ideal solution to the lack of convincing options at right back as the boss is not impressed by neither Sam Byram nor Alvaro Arbeloa.
