West Ham now eyeing two Spurs centre-back targets including ‘complete’ £43m star
Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham could both be looking to bring in defensive reinforcements in the January transfer window.
CBS journalist Ben Jacobs has now provided an update on about two reported Spurs targets also being on the radar of the Hammers.
Jacobs says Tottenham and West Ham are both eyeing Jonathan Tah. The Hammers are also keeping tabs on Bayer Leverkusen teammate Piero Hincapie, who has recently been linked with Spurs too.
As well as Tottenham and West Ham, Chelsea are apparently in pursuit of Tah, according to the CBS reporter.

“Tah has been looked at by Chelsea, who want a centre-back, Spurs and West Ham, with the latter also admiring Hincapie,” he told CaughtOffside.
Tottenham could certainly do with defensive reinforcements. Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero are a quality partnership, but beyond those two, there’s a significant drop-off in quality.
Meanwhile, West Ham have conceded a lot of goals this season, including five at Fulham last time out. So there’s certainly scope for David Moyes to look for stronger options at centre-back.
Tottenham and West Ham linked with Jonathan Tah and Piero Hincapie
Both Tah and Hincapie would be great options for Spurs and the Hammers like.
The former is a ‘‘ 6ft 4in powerhouse with over 300 senior appearances for Leverkusen and 16 caps for Germany.
Joachim Low previously the 27-year-old a “physically strong and very quick” defender for whom “everything is possible”.
As per the Bundesliga , Tah’s top speed this season is 35.81km/h, making him the fourth-fastest in the division.
Meanwhile, Hincapie already has 90 competitive appearances for Leverkusen and 30 caps for Ecuador at just 21 years of age.
Last year, Jacek Kulig of deemed the €50million-rated (£43million) player a “complete and dominant CB” with plenty of great traits who’s a “top talent”.
Obviously either player would be a difficult target for Spurs and West Ham alike in January, due to the fact Leverkusen are top of the Bundesliga.
Barring serious financial problems, you’ll struggle to get a club fighting for honours to part company with key players mid-season.
