West Ham now exploring possibility of replacing David Moyes with ‘special’ 42-year-old manager

West Ham are currently seventh in the Premier League, going well in the Europa League and have just won a European trophy.

However, Moyes’ job never quite seems certain.

It was a little while ago that the club were ready to offer Moyes a new contract, something that would dispel the uncertainty.

However, according to a new report by , West Ham are now becoming increasingly hesitant.

In fact, they are delaying any contract talks to assess whether results improve after some recent disappointment.

And to that description Moyes probably won’t be too ectatic to see Arsenal arrive at West Ham on Sunday if pressure is mounting.

That being said, the Scot has been here before, he knows how to react in such a situation.

West Ham now considering Michael Carrick with David Moyes under pressure

According to the report mentioned, The Hammers have now explored two names as potential Moyes replacements.

No talks have taken place as of yet, but both Lille’s Paulo Fonseca and Middlesborough’s Michael Carrick are being considered.

Fonseca has been a reputable name across Europe for quite some time now, with Carrick’s emergence being more recent.

The 42-year-old was hailed as ‘something special’ by Micah Richards on the ‘’ podcast not so long ago.

And whilst some West Ham fans would be reluctant to see Moyes leave, regardless of any pressure, Carrick could be a smart appointment for any Premier League side.

Although, all in all, it does seem very harsh for Moyes’ job to be under any scrutiny right now.

The report does stress that the pressure is linked to the offer of a new contract, rather than the risk of a sacking, but either way, the talk does feel unfair.

Moyes has overseen a big squad overhaul this season and maintained success during.

In fact, Tim Steidten has now been celebrating how well one of the club’s new signings has settled.
