West Ham manager David Moyes provides Felipe Anderson injury update
Felipe Anderson faces a month on the sidelines with a back injury.
The manager spoke at a press conference today when he dropped the bombshell.
Anderson was absent for last weekend’s game against Everton with the issue, and the Brazilian now faces an extended period on the sidelines.
It is a blow for the Hammers, with the games coming thick and fast up until the winter break in February.
It will also come as a major frustration for Anderson, whose form has been patchy throughout 2019/20.
The former Lazio winger – who earns £85,000-a-week () – has scored just one goal this season, and been a source of frustration for supporters at times given what he can be capable of.
Thankfully for the Irons, Michail Antonio is closing in on a return to the first-team, which may cushion the blow of losing Anderson.
The Englishman has missed the last three matches, but could be in contention to face Leicester City on Wednesday.
TBR’s view – Anderson needs a big end to the season
News of Anderson’s injury is bound to frustrate supporters given he hasn’t hit top gear yet this season.
It’ll therefore be important for him to step up his game once he comes back from injury.
It looks as though the Hammers are heading for a relegation battle, and Anderson does have the quality to keep the team in the division – he just needs to show it consistently.
