West Ham made last minute move to hijack £15m deal for ‘phenomenal’ striker but they failed
West Ham United’s search for a new striker rolls on into pre-season with the Hammers weighing up their options.
Julen Lopetegui has now hung about in the market since landing at the London Stadium earlier this summer.
West Ham have already been able to bring in three new faces with Max Kilman’s big money move being the real highlight.
But still, the search for a new striker goes on in east London.
Serhou Guirassy has completed his move Borussia Dortmund on €17.5m (around £15m) deal from Stuttgart – but TBR Football understands West Ham made a late move to try and persuade him to move to the Premier League.

West Ham attempted to land 30 goal striker
Guirassy came into the summer on the back of a ‘phenomenal‘ 2023/24 campaign with VfB Stuttgart where he was able to net 30 times across all competitions.
Only England captain Harry Kane was able to better his return in the Bundesliga which has earned him a move to Borussia Dortmund.
Medical tests showed up some issues which Dortmund confirmed and the move stalled last week, at which point TBR understands West Ham held talks with the player’s representatives.
Dortmund learned of the rival interest from England and decided to finalise the move for the Guinea international.
West Ham have other options at striker to target
Already, there have been a number of strikers who have been strongly linked with a potential move to the London Stadium.
One of the names to emerge recently is Alexander Sorloth who West Ham could potentially offer a return to the Premier League.
However, there are also players inside the Premier League like Callum Wilson who is of interest to West Ham.
It has also been claimed West Ham have made contact with Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin over potentially making the move south.
With just a matter of days before the Hammers jet off for their pre-season games in the United States, this does feel like an area which could do with a solution sooner rather than later.
