West Ham looking at five centre-backs as potential Kurt Zouma replacements

West Ham United have been busy on the transfer front this summer, with six new signings through the door at the London Stadium.

The Hammers hit the ground running by signing Luis Guilherme before swiftly adding Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman to their ranks.

West Ham then made three more signings in quick succession at the start of August, landing Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez.

The Hammers don’t seem to be done yet, either. As well as still pushing for Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, they are also eyeing more reinforcements at centre-back.

Kurt Zouma’s West Ham future is currently uncertain amid intense speculation with a move to the Saudi Professional League.

Should the Hammers sell Zouma, then they have five other defenders on their shortlist, according to Sky Sports News journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

Trevoh Chalobah and Mats Hummels on West Ham shortlist

Sheth, speaking on , said Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah and free agent Mats Hummels are among the defenders West Ham are looking at if Zouma goes.

The Hammers also have an agreement with Nice over Jean-Clair Todibo, although Sheth suggested that they’re aware he’s probably not coming amid interest from Juventus.

West Ham are also keeping an eye on the situation of Red Bull Salzburg’s Oumar Solet and Flamengo’s Fabricio Bruno, added Sheth.

The east Londoners came close to signing Bruno earlier this summer, but the deal fell through with the clubs close to an agreement.

West Ham eager to find Zouma replacement quickly

West Ham seem intent on replacing Zouma quickly should he decide to move away from the London Stadium.

Of those targets, Chalobah is the only one with Premier League experience, the “unbelievable” £30million man having done well for Chelsea.

Todibo is a high-quality player too, but at this stage it seems unlikely that West Ham will land him, although obviously it remains to be seen what happens with Juve.

Hummels wouldn’t cost the Hammers anything in transfer fees, and he’s a veteran player with a star-studded and trophy-laden CV, so he’ll be one to look out for.

Solet has also been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart, while Bruno is a top talent who the Hammers clearly haven’t given up hope of signing.
