West Ham interested in striker who David Moyes wanted to sign in 2021

West Ham United have asked about signing RB Leipzig striker Andre Silva, TBR Football can exclusively reveal.

Given the injuries to Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug, Graham Potter only has Danny Ings available as a recognised striker at West Ham for the foreseeable future.

Jarrod Bowen has also picked up an injury, who can play centrally, leaving Mohammed Kudus as the only other senior option.

That being said, West Ham are actively looking at nearly a dozen strikers across the world as they look to bring in reinforcements this month.

West Ham interested in Andre Silva and Elye Wahi as striker search continues

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey understands that West Ham have now asked about Portugal international Silva, who is on the periphery of things at Leipzig.

David Moyes wanted to sign Silva almost four years ago, back when he was still playing for Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Hammers have also looked at Marseille striker Elye Wahi who previously turned down a move to the London Stadium.

Wahi could be available on loan this month, but West Ham are yet to make an offer.

In addition to the two names mentioned, TBR understands that West Ham have also had contact about all of Emmanuel Latte-Lath, Igor Jesus, Yuri Alberto, Taiwo Awoniyi, Hwang Hee-chan, Stefanos Tzimas, Marcus Rashford, Evan Ferguson and Jhon Duran in the last week weeks.

But so far the Hammers have had little success in finding someone to come in.

West Ham’s Jhon Duran bid rejected

West Ham bid for Duran last week, but Aston Villa swiftly rejected their offer given it didn’t match their valuation for the Colombian.

And whilst Duran has been in excellent goalscoring form this season, the same can’t necessarily be said for either Silva or Wahi.

Silva has just the solitary goal in 15 appearances for Leipzig this season, a lot of which have come from the bench.

In terms of Wahi’s form, the French striker has scored three goals in 14 games for his new club Marseille, a player who has already changed clubs twice since 2023.

A difficult situation for West Ham to solve, but it’s clear that Potter needs help up top if he’s going to turn the club’s season around.
