West Ham have been in talks about £18m signing for the past week amid Niclas Fullkrug discussions

West Ham have actually been holding talks about a different signing in recent days – while also negotiating the deal to sign Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund.

The Hammers are close to announcing a £27m deal for the Germany international – after he impressed last season with 16 goals and ten assists in 46 appearances across all competitions.

Fullkrug was expected to have his medical at West Ham on Saturday – according to Fabrizio Romano.

So, who have West Ham been in talks to sign in addition to Niclas Fullkrug? Let’s take a look…

West Ham hold Logan Costa negotiations

A story from now claims that West Ham have held talks with Toulouse over the signing of Logan Costa.

The Ligue 1 outfit are demanding €21m (£18m) to sell the central defender this summer.

Costa is described as West Ham’s preferred alternative to Jean-Clair Todibo, who has agreed to join Juventus despite being the subject of a €37m (£32m) offer from the Hammers.

However, West Ham will not have a free run at signing the Cape Verde international.

Calciomercato explain how Bologna are also keen to sign Costa as a replacement for Riccardo Calafiori – who recently left to join Arsenal – and both clubs are in discussions about a deal.

Interestingly, the Italian news outlet add that Bologna are being charged €15m (£13m) for the 23-year-old’s signature, but Toulouse want West Ham to pay £18m due to the greater financial power of Premier League clubs.

West Ham have options

Clearly stung by Todibo’s decision to reject them, West Ham have responded by lining up several alternative options.

Aside from Costa, West Ham are also in talks with Inter Milan about signing Yann Bisseck – according to .

The German is valued at €25m (£21m) by the Italian champions.

If West Ham are successful in talks to sign either Costa or Bisseck for fees in the region of £20m, it would not only mean Julen Lopetegui gets an alternative to Todibo, but it could also see another signing arrive, as the Hammers would have saved millions compared to that initial £32m bid for the Frenchman.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as a new centre-back is expected to follow Fullkrug to the London Stadium.
