Report: West Ham United want £76.3m duo to spearhead new-look attack

West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini is looking to bolster his ranks with a new-look strike force this summer, .

The Chilean boss has identified Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez and Fulham star Aleksandar Mitrovic as the men to spearhead next season’s attack.

West Ham were keen to add Gomez to their team in January if Marko Arnautavic departed the club. The Austrian stayed, however, and a move went south.

With 14 goals for a struggling Celta Vigo side, he clearly has the ability. Mitrovic helped himself to 11 strikes at Fulham despite the club’s relegation.

that up to £30 million could be needed to prise Mitrovic away from Craven Cottage. Gomez, likewise, has a release clause of £43.5 million,

Finances might prove tricky for the Hammers to negotiate. The fact that both selling clubs struggled this season might work in West Ham’s favour, however.

TBR Verdict

It was certain for so long that it would be a case of one or the other for the Hammers when it came to Gomez and Mitrovic.

That doesn’t appear to be the case, however, with the ambitious Londoners keen to land both this summer. They will almost certainly face competition for both strikers.

West Ham certainly need striking reinforcements. Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll are set to depart, whilst Marko Arnautavic has lost his way since the turn of the year.

Signing both Gomez and Mitrovic would decimate West Ham’s budget. It would make the rest of the Premier League stand up and take notice, however, that the Hammers are not in the mood for messing around.
