West Ham given second chance to seal Andre Silva transfer as Eintracht Frankfurt set demands

West Ham United have been given a second chance to seal the transfer of Andre Silva, as report Eintracht Frankfurt will listen to offers this summer.

The Irons were linked with the Portuguese striker during the January transfer window () as a potential replacement for Sebastien Haller, and continue to be on the hunt for the Ivory Coast international’s successor.

David Moyes was on a new centre-forward in the winter market and ultimately chose against adding depth behind Michail Antonio, in favour of keeping the funds raised from Haller’s departure for future use ().

West Ham could now look to revive their interest in Silva, as it is reported that Eintracht Frankfurt are unlikely to convince the 25-year-old to stay at Deutsche Bank Park for another season without maintaining their place in the Champions League positions.

Even then, Die Adler’s new Sports Director Markus Krosche is expected to listen to offers should bids of around €40million (£34.6m) arrive, as there is no release clause in the three-year contract signed upon his permanent €9m (£7.8m, ) arrival last September.

Silva’s stock has skyrocketed since joining the Bundesliga outfit following a season-long loan from AC Milan, having scored games to trail only Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski () and match Borussia Dortmund’s £150m () star Erling Haaland.

TBR’s view:

Moyes’ reluctance to overspend on a striker during the January transfer window may have cost West Ham the chance to sign Silva at the time, but his run of form since the closure of the winter market could see that he re-emerges as a target for the east London outfit.

The Hammers’ need for attacking depth is evident by the lack of natural cover for Antonio, and Silva has been one of the true standout talents in the Bundesliga this term – where he has lived up to Eintracht CEO Fredi Bobic’s comments from September.

“He’s a young and flexible attacker and he’s still got potential to improve,” Bobic told the club’s . “We’re confident we can take him to another level here in Frankfurt.”

Silva has not shied from taking the step up in his output following a failed spell at AC Milan where he only offered games, either, as he looks to follow his compatriot and idol Cristiano Ronaldo () in building his career on and off the pitch.
