TBR View: West Ham face tricky issue in sale of fringe players
This summer is a crucial one for the Irons. There is a desperate need to clearout the squad of all the deadwood and replace them with quality ahead of the Europa League campaign.
However, it’s a tricky situation for David Moyes, who is already looking to add attackers this summer. The potential departures mixed with the lack of attackers is a recipe for disaster.
On the other hand, there are quite a few players who don’t have a future at the club. The likes of Anderson will struggle to gain a regular starting berth, making them useless assets.
Selling them would be an ideal scenario, but, then the club possess the issue of having to replace them.
And when you mix in the financial struggle following the Coronavirus pandemic, it’s a tricky situation.
West Ham will need to be extremely smart during this transfer window. They may not be able to add one or two players of real quality, but, quality always comes above quantity.
Investing in a raft of average players as oppossed to one good player will hamper them in Europe.
Selling fringe players will be easy, but replacing them and adding quality at the same time will be extremely difficult for West Ham.
