West Ham fans will fear Felipe Anderson is destined to be the next Dimitri Payet

West Ham United picked up an impressive 3-0 win against Newcastle United yesterday. Two goals from Javier Hernandez were topped up with a 90th-minute goal for Felipe Anderson to give the Hammers all three points in convincing fashion.

The Brazilian again had one of his better days. He absolutely tore DeAndre Yedlin apart for the majority of the game and left the American begging for the final whistle.

West Ham clearly have a new cult hero and he was praised as such on Match of the Day by former Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

Anderson clearly has a touch of the Payet’s above him.

Playing from the left, he has the ability to turn defenders inside out and also has an excellent crossing ability. But more then that, he joined West Ham after his career seemed to be stalling elsewhere.

“All of these things he is doing are effortless to him. The quality he possesses is unbelievable. Make a good run, he’s going to find you. He’s not selfish. He should have had more than one…

“He’s becoming that cult hero that West Ham love to have in their ranks.”

The Hammers will no doubt hope his career does not continue like Payet’s. Whilst the Frenchman may have been a hero at West Ham, he clearly never saw the place as a permanent home. Eventually, he got itchy feet and wanted a return to Marseille.

, a sizeable investment. But if his cult status performances do not bring the Hammers European football, you can bet he will start getting the same itchy feet as Payet did.
