West Ham fans stunned by Tottenham star’s performance, as Spurs win 2-1
Tottenham progressed into the Carabao Cup semi-finals on Wednesday night with a 2-1 win over West Ham. But they had Hugo Lloris to thank, and West Ham fans were full of praise for the Spurs skipper during and after the game.
The Hammers came into it having suffered a pre-match blow. Michail Antonio received a positive test beforehand, ruling him out of the quarter-final clash in North London. Jarrod Bowen started up front instead of him.
Antonio Conte fielded a few fringe players in his side, namely Steven Bergwijn, Matt Doherty and Davinson Sanchez. It was Netherlands ace Bergwijn that ultimately, proved the difference in the London derby.
West Ham, meanwhile, included Harrison Ashby and Ben Johnson in defence. Nikola Vlasic also got a run out, while Bowen played up top. It was Bergwijn that opened the scoring, after a lovely one-two with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Hammers knocked down the door for the majority of the play after the first goal, with Lloris called into action on numerous occasions. He denied Tomas Soucek on a couple of occasions, producing two glorious saves.

But it was Bowen that equalised, showing some neet footwork in front of the Spurs defence before finishing with aplomb. However, Spurs replied instantly, good play down the right and Lucas Moura bundling the ball home.
While it was Lucas that got the winner, it was Lloris that probably provided the biggest impact on the match. So much so, that West Ham fans bemoaned the £100,000-a-week () World Cup winner’s performance on Twitter.
