West Ham fans react to Ben Johnson’s performance against Fulham
West Ham United continued their pre-season preparations on Saturday with a 1-0 win over Fulham.
Manuel Lanzini’s 18th-minute strike was enough to give the Hammers the victory, and fans also saw the club’s new record signing Sebastien Haller in action for the first time.

Pablo Fornals and Felipe Anderson were also in action, with the quartet showing glimpses of what they can bring to the table this season.
All four impressed, but someone else who caught the eye was young full-back Ben Johnson.
The 19-year-old was handed a start at right-back by Manuel Pellegrini and continued his good form this pre-season.

So far, Johnson has played against Altach, Manchester City, Newcastle United and now Fulham, and on each occasion he has held his own.
West Ham fans react
There was obviously a lot of reaction for the attacking quartet, but lots of fans were keen to praise Johnson for his contributions against the Cottagers.
Many believe that off the back of his latest strong pre-season showing, Johnson could feature more prominently within the first-team in 2019/20:
Outstanding I thought

In the 20 minutes since I’ve got here Lanzini has looked good, not got to see much of Fornals or Haller on the ball, Ben Johnson has impressed me. Anderson has the work rate but seems to lose the ball quite a lot. Hopefully we don’t make too many changes in the 2nd half

I’m a big fan of Ben Johnson. Zab down to 3rd choice IMO.

On course to be the best full back at the club. ⚒⚒

I really wanna see him cement that RB position this season! Think he’s gotta a massive chance to do just that!⚒

Big future ahead of him

Ben Johnson looked very good. Quick, strong and tough to get past, even for Ivan Cavaleiro, who was probably Fulham’s best player. I’d love to see him get a real chance this season as I think he has outstanding potential.

Can’t wait to see Ben Johnson this season. Was MOTM against Fulham today. I won’t ever forget his insane debut against City when he pocketed Mahrez. He makes a case to be our best LB alongside Masuaku at the age of 19.

Cracking away day atmosphere, Lanzini’s goal was good enough to win any game. The front four looked promising and interchanged throughout the first half especially. Thought Ben Johnson was really assured at right-back too. ⚒
