West Ham fans react on Twitter to Aaron Cresswell’s display vs Fulham

Had West Ham United fans been told at the start of the season that Aaron Cresswell would emerge as a very early contender for Hammer of the Year, it seems likely that many may not have given the suggestion the time of day.

Cresswell has been with the Hammers for a long time. In fact, he is closing in on 200 Premier League appearances for the club. So unsurprisingly, he has come in for criticism at various points along the way.

It did appear that the 30-year-old had potentially been on the decline. But something appears to have clicked this term. And the England international is now producing some fantastic form.

His latest outstanding display came in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Fulham. It was not a classic game – despite all of the injury time drama – but many felt that Cresswell was a standout performer.

He hit the bar during the second-half with a delicious free-kick. And he really looked dangerous throughout the game.

, he made more key passes than any other player on the pitch. Overall, Fabian Balbuena was the only West Ham player to complete more passes than Cresswell.

And some West Ham fans believe that playing Cresswell – who earns £50,000-a-week, – on the left of a back three has been inspired. Deploying Arthur Masuaku in the wing-back role has already looked a masterstroke. And now Cresswell is also stepping up.
