West Ham fans react delighted with Said Benrahma on Wednesday night

West Ham United took advantage of Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, as they beat Sam Allardyce’s West Brom 3-1 at The Hawthorns – and Hammers fans have praised Said Benrahma’s performance.

The Hammers came into the match after Spurs were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa, meaning a win against the Baggies – or even a draw – would take them into sixth. Angelo Ogbonna’s late header finally secured themselves three points.

It got off to a bad start – as a Matheus Pereira corner, a player that has been linked with the Hammers – was headed into his own net by Tomas Soucek past Darren Randolph. Lukasz Fabianski was injured in the warm-up.

However, Soucek made amends in first-half injury time. The Hammers got forward in what was an end-to-end match, and a loose ball fell to ex-Brentford man Benrahma. His pinpoint low cross found Soucek to tap home.

Both sides tried to win the match and both sides certainly had chances, as Allardyce’s men did themselves proud against a side that were sitting in the top four until recently. Ogbonna got the winner on 82 minutes, heading in.

The Hammers then secured the win as Michail Antonio scored a third, a scoreline that somewhat flattered the Hammers – but that will hardly bother Moyes and West Ham, who are now in line to secure European football.

West Ham fans have reacted on Twitter to Benrahma’s performance and many were impressed with the midfielder. It even saw many supporters question the decision to take him off, instead of Jesse Lingard or others.
