West Ham fans react as Said Benrahma shines in win over Aston Villa

West Ham United produced a sparkling away performance to beat Aston Villa on Wednesday night by three goals to one – and Hammers fans have drooled over a moment of second-half brilliance from Said Benrahma.

The Hammers came into the match in good form under the guidance of David Moyes. Despite a 3-1 loss to Liverpool, West Ham have been in excellent form and they continued that push for Europe against Villa.

Tomas Soucek opened the scoring just after the half-time break, before January recruit Jesse Lingard scored on his debut – though Emi Martinez will have been disappointed that he failed to keep the left-footed effort out.

Ollie Watkins scored for Villa to set up an interesting finish to the match, but Manchester United loanee Lingard was not finished there. The England international latched on to a pass from Michail Antonio, before doubling his tally.

Benrahma has been decent since signing for West Ham, a move that was turned permanent to allow Lingard to join on loan. The Algerian’s first-time pass to Soucek was glorious, timing it perfectly and splitting the Villa defence.

West Ham fans reacted on Twitter to the former Brentford’s moment of second-half brilliance – many drooling over the £23,000-a-week star’s () pass that opened the floodgates in the second 45.
