West Ham fans react as club reportedly interested in signing Chelsea left-footer

West Ham United are reportedly interested in raiding Chelsea for out-of-favour left-back Emerson Palmieri this summer, with the signing of Ben Chilwell likely to allow Emerson to depart – and Hammers fans want him signed.

West Ham are likely to be in the market for a new left-back this summer. While Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku remain the club’s first-team options, both are churning out performances far from their best and have come under criticism.

Plenty of names have been touted with a move to West Ham, as David Moyes looks to solve his left-back issue. Italy international Emerson has emerged as an option, with the left-footer out of favour at Chelsea.

The signing of Chilwell has pushed the Brazil-born defender down the rankings at Stamford Bridge, with Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta preferred to the ex-Roma man. In two and a half years, he has managed just 55 appearances.

It remains to be seen how much Emerson would set West Ham back – and whether Chelsea would allow the Hammers to sign one of their players in a deal only involving the left-footer. Indeed, Chelsea may include Emerson in a move for Declan Rice.

West Ham fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that they are interested in raiding their London neighbours for Emerson – with his asking price is a huge £26million. Many want him signed.
