West Ham fans praise Said Benrahma after performance in Brighton draw

West Ham rescued a point late on away to Brighton on Saturday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter praised their goalscorer Said Benrahma for his individual performance.

The Hammers left the Amex Stadium with a point after a 1-1 draw against Brighton, which before a ball was kicked would’ve been a disappointing result.

However, Benrahma’s 87th minute equaliser meant that David Moyes’ side didn’t leave empty-handed, as it cancelled out Danny Welbeck’s 84th minute opener.

West Ham are mathematically still in the hunt for Champions League qualification with two games remaining due to the fact they are five points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea. But it’s more likely they’ll be nervously looking over their shoulder to try ensure they finish in the European positions.

The Irons weren’t able to find the spark at Brighton, and have hit a dip as the pressure cranks up at the end of the season.

It seems unlikely they’ll end up in the top four now, but playing in the Europa League next year at the London Stadium would be deemed a big success.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media believe Benrahma was a massive positive for them.

The 25-year-old attacker curled in a superb effort from outside of the box to knick a point, and it was remarkably his first goal for the club since his summer move from Brentford.
