West Ham fans credit Vladimir Coufal despite Newcastle loss
West Ham were beaten 3-2 away to Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did at least give credit to their defender Vladimir Coufal for his individual performance.
The Hammers suffered a defeat on their trip to St James’ Park in the Premier League, which resulted in them staying fourth in the table.
It means that David Moyes’ side could be as low as sixth by the next time they play.
After going down to 10 men and conceding twice in the first half, visitors West Ham showed tremendous heart to level the game back at 2-2. Unfortunately, Joe Willock then popped up with an 82nd minute winner for the hosts.
The Irons are still firmly in the hunt for a Champions League finish and have some favourable fixtures, but Saturday’s result proved it’s not going to be straightforward getting over the line. It also didn’t help they were missing key men Declan Rice and Michail Antonio through injury.

A selection of West Ham supporters on social media felt that Coufal deserved a special mention for his contribution, albeit in a losing cause.
The 28-year-old right-back showed his usual work-rate and enthusiasm, operating in a slightly higher wing-back role against Newcastle.
He’s had a superb first year in English football, and his aggressive style really suits the Premier League.
Here are some Hammers fans discussing Coufal:
Coufal deserves a point man..

Coufal is the hardest working man on the field today,

Coufal best player on the pitch again today

No way was Johnson our best player today! Gave ball away far too much and 3rd goal was awful defending. He did some very good things tbf but it was a very patchy display. Coufal our best player today definitely
