West Ham fans call for Antonio award as club duo receive nominations

West Ham United stars Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma have made a six-man shortlist for the Premier League’s Player of the Month award.

The Hammers’ duo are named alongside Marcos Alonso, Eric Dier, Demarai Gray and Mason Greenwood.

While there are two West Ham stars up for this, it s clear from the fans’ responses that only one man will be getting their votes, and that’s Antonio.

As impressive as Benrahma has been – with two goals and two assists so far this season () – Antonio has been on a different level.

The 31-year-old forward has not only supplied seven goal contributions in just three games this season (), but he’s also become the club’s all time leading Premier League goal scorer ().

If Antonio continues to fire at the rate that he currently is then there’s a good chance he could be in the golden boot race.

His ability to find the net consistently is certainly impressive, as he’s already just shy of halfway towards beating his Premier League goal tally of ten from last season.

The forward has also been rewarded with his first call-up to the Jamaican national team during the ongoing international break, where he could be set to score his first goals for his country.

You wouldn’t be against him doing just that, and if the West Ham fans have it their way you also wouldn’t be against him being named as the Premier League Player of the Month for August.
