‘West Ham deal off’: Fabrizio Romano has bad news for Hammers fans this morning

“Juventus are prepared to complete Filip Kostic deal very soon. Final details are being discussed with Eintracht, it’s matter of add-ons to reach full agreement on the fee and then Kostic will fly to Turin.”

It had been previously reported that West Ham had pulled out of a deal to sign Kostic, with the transfer proving too costly for the Hammers.

And it seems like that bad news of missing out on such an exciting player is set to be made official in the near future.

West Ham miss out on Kostic

It was always going to be difficult to convince a player to join West Ham over Juventus.

Kostic was already set to play in the Champions League after his Frankfurt side won the Europa League last season, including a 3-1 aggregate win over the Hammers in the semi-final.

And with Juventus set to play in Europe’s premier competition this season, David Moyes’ side were relying on the player wanting to play in the Premier League over Serie A to draw his attention.

Kostic racked up four goals and nine assists in the Bundesliga last season, more than Kevin de Bruyne and James Maddison managed in the Premier League.

The Hammers won’t be too upset about losing out on Kostic, after confirming the signing of another left-sided player – Maxwel Cornet – last week.

Defensively, one name that has stood out is Thilo Kehrer, who could provide important defensive cover across the back line.
