West Ham United could do with bolstering their defensive ranks in January.

Could they land a player who’s been compared to Arsenal and England legend Tony Adams?

With Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna out through injury, David Moyes is now reportedly looking for reinforcements.

One player the Hammers are apparently eyeing ahead of the transfer window would surely arrive to much fanfare.

According to the , West Ham have identified Liverpool ace Nathaniel Phillips as a January target.

The outlet claims the Reds have put a £10million price tag on the 24-year-old.

Meanwhile, claims Liverpool value Phillips at £15million and will look to sell him.

Even at the higher price tag, West Ham would be getting themselves a bargain.

West Ham target Phillips – his career so far

Phillips hails from Bolton and began his career at Wanderers, but joined the Liverpool academy in 2016.

He made his Reds debut in an FA Cup meeting with Everton in January 2020, either side of two loan spells at Stuttgart during 2019-20.

In October 2020, Phillips made his Premier League debut for the club, starting in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over West Ham.

He made his Champions League debut against RB Leipzig in March 2020 and scored his first goal for the club against Burnley in May 2021.

Phillips is a fan favourite at Liverpool for how he stepped up during their defensive crisis last season.

Pundits have also praised the 6ft 3in powerhouse for his displays at Anfield.

West Ham icon Rio Ferdinand loved seeing Phillips in action against AC Milan in December.

“Look at this from Nat,” he told BT Sport – via the – following his outrageously confident drag-back in the box.

“Two players have just got to pay to get back into the San Siro.

“Just watch Phillips. These two players, Kessie and Zlatan.

“I don’t think they realise they’re going to have to come back into the stadium at some point.
